Welcome to Alan Higgs Studio
Alan Higgs Studio offers a fresh approach to the design of buildings, interiors and landscapes. It gives clients the freedom to imagine and discover what might be possible, without having to commit to a project program and investment too early.
Firstly, clients may want to establish robust concept designs that can be developed technically and executed at their own pace, without committing to the full appointment of a consultant team at the outset.
Secondly, they may increasingly seek an integrated, seamless approach to the design of their project, seeing that outcomes can be enhanced by a shared approach to its different elements of building, interiors and landscape.
Alan Higgs Studio can encompass one, two or all three disciplines on projects of any scale, in any location and at whatever stage is wanted. A wider design team can be assembled and managed at the right time, with support provided to the level desired. We offer a genuinely flexible approach, along with our experience and imagination, to help realise your ambitions.
About Alan Higgs
Alan graduated with distinction in architecture from RMIT University Australia in 1987. After working for small design-led and larger commercial firms, he founded Alan Higgs Architects in 1993, qualified as an architect in Britain and became a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. His doctorate’s title, “I didn't ask for this - Private practices in the creation of a residential architecture”, alludes to the way clients often say their projects have produced results far beyond their initial imaginings. For 35 years Alan led a dedicated team responsible for over 280 completed commissions. Some of this work is described in the project pages of this website.
Alan is board chair of The Showroom Gallery and is advising on other philanthropy projects. He lives and works in a building converted and developed to his own design in central London and spends some time in his 1907 listed house in Victoria where he is developing its gardens.
